I am the husbandman to love’s flowering in this life. How am I this husbandman? What does it mean to be this man in service to love?...
One of my teachers would laugh at the idea that we have to "earn our living." Life, he'd say, is a gift. No need to earn it. Only enjoy it!
And so with love: a gift that requires no "earning," only becoming who I am. Without sweat. Without work. Without effort.
Only receiving.
But that "only receiving".... this requires unbuckling myself from the treadmill of "doing" and exchanging and earning. And this unbuckling takes effort. Daily practice. And commitment.

Today, I am excited, and honoured.

There is so much more than what I thought when I started this journey. An apprenticeship, as Jenkinson suggests, is about diminishment. It is perhaps as much about being released from expectations and assumptions about what is of value as it is about attaining the necessary skills and knowledge to become a master of something that has value. Today, this journey seems to be all about what a deeper part of myself —my "awareness?" my "soul?"— needs to realize itself in this life. The journey has so little to do with all that I thought I knew. It has so little to do with all that I’ve learned and suffered through. Something else is revealed. Something that required suffering and learning.
Today, thanks to my willingness to go through the suffering and the regret, thanks to my willingness to see myself, diminished, I am blessed.
Though I am often alone, I don't walk this path of diminishment on my own. I have guides. Teachers. An oracle. With their help, my way becomes clearer. With their help, I’m learning a thing or two. Only with their help am sharing these crumbs with others. Maybe you will find them nourishing. Food on your own journey through the dense brush of your own journey beyond survival. Enjoy!
