TAKE MY HAND

Apprenticeship to Love: The crooked path of sacred marriage (October 26, 2026)

TODAY'S QUESTION

Where do you feel your impatience rubbing up against life?

TODAY’S MEDITATION

Patience: the one thing she asked of me.

Now, to remember how much time and solitude she needs.

...

Compassion: whatever I am feeling, she feels it even more tenderly. This I know.

But today I feel mostly my impatience. My neediness. Which makes this a very good time for my own solitude, my own time for integration.

But, of course, I want something else: to feel her radiance.

So I feel it. I know it. And I hold this moment, this space, with confidence. But ever so close to losing it…

…

If you’ve danced tango… in a milonga where you know no one, and somehow you know. And somehow she knows. If you’ve ever been beyond words in your love, and somehow you know…

I was once invited to speak, to an intimate international audience of tango teachers and dancers with interests in psychology and therapy, about “leading with intuition.”

I am thinking about this now, as I lead myself, lead her perhaps, into a dark and silent and unknown moment. And all I feel is fear, a wanting to be held and trusted. As if her trust inspires me to be who I am.

…

Listen. It’s cold outside now that October has turned, properly, to Her winter-facing mystery.

Listen. There is, perhaps, some wisdom being whispered, the oracle of silence.

Only listen. But remember! Remember that I know so much more than I want to admit. More than I want to admit? No, more than I care to admit.

So, taking a moment to breathe, to care, I know. I know that, in this moment of silence, this cold day, I am enough. In the silence that sings sweetly of tenderness and of all the feelings, here I take her hand and lead us. Her silence is my inspiration.

...

Trust me, I say. Take this heart. Let its courage be enough for two. Here, I say. Somehow I know this way.

TODAY’S INSPIRATIONS

🌀… protection lives inside a shell and also makes it impossible to receive love. Now you're in a trap -- living with love, but not in love is the expression . . . an illusion of painful confusion.
A more masterful method moves away from protection and instead uses intuition and deflection – a technique of angles, a very powerful martial type art . . . actually a martial art, because of its skill for succeeding in the material/physical world. The capacity to deflect allows for security along with receptivity . . . you're not in a shell, opportunities abound, where protection would cut you off from the world. Deflection is a dance within every danger of the cosmos. In ancient history, deflection was taught as the dance of Shiva; the song of Krishna; the ecstasy of "I am Jehovah" and the serenity of Buddha . . . a state of total innocence dancing in the mouth of time. It doesn’t cut off the world, but super includes the world within your highest state of receptivity. (Guru Singh & Guruperkarma Kaur)

🌀A man of depth can hold both the joy and the pain of life at the same time. (GS Youngblood)

🌀Breathe. Breathe and she will return. (John Wineland)

🌀Recognize that the other person is you. (Aquarian Sutra 1)
