Short: Kindness

Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle. (Charles Glassman)

Short: Kindness

Years before I found this passage by Glassman I knew that we all struggle. I knew because I’ve been listening to many, many men and women tell me about their unhappiness. We struggle, to receive love, and to give love. We struggle, and we are unhappy, so many of us.

What to do? Practice kindness. It’s as good a place to start as any other I can think of. Be kind to the ones near to me. Be kind to strangers (often easier to give than to those I love). Be kind to myself.

Finding the Glassman passage is a good reminder: to offer and accept kindness, to all I meet. In all situations. We all want to be loved, to have our love accepted. It’s a struggle.
