MY MEDITATION

The art of holding space may be this: to feel all the vibrations of this moment —every pulse of life, every breath and every silence, every thought and every feeling, every-f*cking-thing! To feel all of the subtleties that lie beneath everything that is obvious and taken for granted, to allow my body to know everything She brings to me, and allowing this ocean of sensation to wash over me and enjoy it all.

Let these waves come. Let them come and do nothing. Be without judgement or protection or response of any kind. Just feel it. Allow it.

In this holy space I experience Her waves of everythingness as dancing, as a song sung for whomever has the stillness and the discipline to hear. And in this moment to know that it is me to whom She gifts this song, this dance, these never-ending always-unfolding waves of blessing. And then, to simply weep with joy.

This morning the fire burns. Birds are busy at the feeder. My dogs sleep on the green couch. Gerhard Oppitz tinkles Schubert on the playllist. The cat prowls. Her heart beats. All of this for me to enjoy.

This is my greatness: to learn how to hold this space, ask nothing of it, and enjoy all of its vibrations as my nourishment.

Last night I spoke about my journey into this moment where I begin to listen to my oracle, know these vibrations as mine. I've shared this story now, publicly, twice. The first time I could hardly stand with the feelings that came as people responded. Again, the impulse to hide, to cower behind some notion of being less than my greatness as a way of protecting myself — from what? From the fullness of who I am? From my responsibility to live fully as the man I love.

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONS

🌀Not only is it unhealthy to hold [our emotions] in, it’s actually impossible. This is one of the reasons why a daily practice of meditation and yoga are so beneficial. In these practices you’re able to process these stored emotions and move them through the body without having to “target” someone or something with them. Processing emotions through physical postures and meditation is not only healthy -- it’s extremely revealing...you learn about yourself and the deeper layers of your experiences. (Guru Singh and Guruperkarma Kaur, Fully Release)

🌀The Conscious Warrior is committed to feeling deeply, rather than numbing or succumbing to comfort or addiction. (John Wineland, Precept 4)

🌀Vibrate the Cosmos. The Cosmos shall clear the path. (Aquarian Sutra 5)

🌀You're not like that now. (My Oracle)

SUGGESTED PRACTICE

A 3-minute practice to feel Her vibrations as nourishment.... (I will be posting this to Instagram later today at http://instagram.com/sacredbodiesca )

  • Close your eyes.
  • Sitting tall wherever you are, aligning your spine into a firm yet relaxed structure for your receiving, an antenna, as it were, as it is.
  • Feel your feet or your sit bones grounded into the floor, the earth below you.
  • Notice your breath, allow it to slow.
  • Notice your weight, allow it to settle into the earth.
  • Notice your lightness, allow it to stretch into the space above you.
  • Notice your heart. It may take a moment. As you breathe, take a moment to hold the breath and allow your heart to be felt, and to expand into your chest and beyond.
  • Notice your shoulders. Roll them gently back. Notice the tension - or lack of tension - between your shoulders.
  • Notice your belly rising, and falling, with every breath.
  • Listen to the sound of your breath. Listen to the sounds beyond your breath.
  • Imagine these sounds as waves washing over you. Imagine the silence of the house your are in, the forest nearby, the garden outside or in the park, imagine all of these thought-forms as what they are: vibrations subtly pressing themselves into you, just as your awareness subtly presses your presences into them.
  • Sit with this awareness, and continue to breathe gently. Feel it all.
  • Take a deep breath. Allow your heart to expand even more fully into your chest cavity and beyond. Hold this expanding vibration for as long as you can, feeling your beautiful presence as both a pressing out and a receiving in. Enjoy.
  • To complete, bow to your own silence. Open your eyes, and bring a little of this capacity to hold space to every encounter in your day. You are this big, this strong. You can hold it all, and enjoy it.
