What has brought me to this moment of surrender? What has opened me to this beautiful moment so completely?

No equivocation —I know this old, familiar, comfortable habit: the death of what I begin to understand is love.

Early today, reminded of this. A dream (or two? or has it been a week of these?) on waking at 1:30am, to begin two hours of practice. Dreams that are testing me. Asking me, Do I really know this? Am I really so deep as to swim these waters? Do I really know and trust this thing, this "intuition?" Or, for that matter, my "oracle?"

These dreams that ask me to consider who I am, what I am doing, they are rare. When they come, I pay attention. I wonder. Today, within minutes of waking, understanding. An answer in the morning's reading, one of today's inspirations. About surrender. About the grace of surrender, and the temptation to fall back into familiar habits. Doubting. Striving. The seeming need to wrestle when faced with the unfamiliar ease of knowing, unreasonable knowing that requires no struggle. Wanting, striving, doubting as somehow the "safe" option, a way to "make sense" of that which stands outside of my conventional sensibilities. Whereas this surrender I am called to, invited to... this unreasonable knowing that is my intuition, this trust in my oracle... somehow this is a form of foolishness.

The dreams a question, the answer: I know my oracle; I know that these fruits I enjoy today are born of my practice, coming to know her need as my path. The answer: to step boldly into this knowing, this path. Feel into her need. Surrender into my confidence. Sacrifice the certainty of the familiar. Sacrifice the equivocation of spreading risk. Put all the eggs in this basket, and breathe. Free myself into effortless knowing, effortless receiving of all that I need.

🌀When you completely surrender to your destiny, you’ll experience a loft beneath your being like wind beneath the wings of your life. ...

...You’ve come home, but you’ve lost the wanting...the longing...the desires. This sense of lift is frighteningly strange. The human tendency is to reach back into the more predictable sensations of wanting and desiring...a natural reflex to create that which will disengage the fulfilment and re-engage the struggle...(Guru Singh and Guruperkarma Kaur, Surrender Through Fear)

🌀You're not like that now. (My Oracle)

🌀 The Conscious Warrior practices the cultivation of wonder and awe. (John Wineland, Precept 7)

A simple 3-minute reflective practice about your dreams and how you are denying them:

  • Sit comfortably, your body loose, shoulders rolled back. Set a timer for three minutes. Now begin...

Close your eyes and, breathing gently into your belly, and remember a dream you have about yourself, your life, love, art, money, family, what have you.

  • Notice how you equivocate, how you "hedge your bets," "spread the risk" —all the ways you qualify or diminish your desires and dreams.
  • Notice and breathe into that part of you that is not ready to boldly put all your eggs in this one basket.
  • Hold yourself as your breathe into this place in your body where you are not confident. Just hold and breathe. This part of you needs only your attention in this moment.
  • When these three minutes are over sit for a few minutes. Allow this practice to drift away, trusting that in some subtle way you have started a shift towards being who you are in a deeper way than you were five minutes ago. Again, and always, be patient. But be bold.

Ps. If you’d like to talk about how you can know your oracle, develop your intuition, please feel free to book a no-charge 15-minute chat. That may be enough to help you get started on your path.
