VIDEOFirst thoughts on weddings after Stephen Jenkinson’s talk on matrimony…

I am angry. And yes, ashamed.

Why? Because we’re not doing a very good job. But before I continue, let me take a moment to thank the men who, in the absence of fathers, uncles, elders who did not step up to the plate, thank you stepping up to the plate today. You inspire me.

That said, there is very good reason for us as men in our 50s and 60s and older to feel regret and shame. Unfortunately, too few of us are carrying that burden. We’ve left that as our legal, our patrimony, for younger men and boys. Shame on us. Indeed.

If you’re a younger man, let’s say in your 30s or younger, if you're a boy, please accept my apologies. I’ve let you down. Yes, I have “good excuses.” But really, I’ve been aware of the privileges I’ve enjoyed, the iniquities I’ve visited on those who haven’t enjoyed the benefits of being born a white, middle-class male in North America. Maybe not as aware as I could be. But it’s been there for me to know, if I chose to bother. Mostly I didn’t. No wonder there is anger in so many women, non-masculine-identified people, people of any colour other than white, etc etc etc.

So, what is this patrimony I offer, that you who have suffered or who carry the shame that is rightfully mine, may know I take this seriously? I want you to first of all feel safely held. And then, to fully blossom your hurt and your anger and your shame into the beautiful gift you are to this world. I’m working on it. It’s why I learn what I do. It’s why I teach what I do.

This moment of anger will pass. I will settle into my work of making peace with the world and leaving a legacy, a patrimony that I am not ashamed of. As I do that I bow to those who, in their turn, teach me.

Thank you to Stephen Jenkinson for your thoughts and challenges. Thank you to those, like Leah Lamb, Kimberly Ann Johnson, among others, who host Stephen Jenkinson and make his words available to me. Thank you to Katrine (you may know her from @darkfemininedesire on Instagram) for your courage. Finally, thank you to the woman I love. It is her tender silence that calls me always to listen deeper, to listen so far into the silence that I finally encounter myself as a beautiful and powerful masculine presence, so much more than my regrets and shame.

Ps. I’m repeating most of yesterday’s inspirations today as they repay revisiting. Please dwell with them a moment before turning the page.

🌀Any improvements you make in your life are temporary. So you're screwed if you actually think that what life is about is improving your life, because you're automatically deprived of that, Absolutely and automatically you lose. (David Deida)

🌀Don't seek, don't search, don't ask, don't knock, don't demand-relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it. (Osho)

🌀 Before you make love, meditate.Never make love without meditating, otherwise the love will remain sexual. Before you meet the woman you should rise higher in your consciousness because then the meeting will happen on a higher plane... (Osho)

🌀 If you only ever move at the speed of your woman's authentic opening, she will always trust you sexually. (justin patrick pierce)

🌀…tolerate your limitlessness; accommodate the same in others; realize "reality" is a habit of current thinking, just patterns in the un-expanded models of time. Expand your model to such a degree that it welcomes the changes that will automatically occur in others… (Guru Singh & Guruperkarma Kaur)

🌀You know how to sit.You know how to wait.It is the greatest art, to sit and wait for it to come. (adapted from Yogi Bhajan)

🌀You are beautiful. (My beloved. My Oracle)

Day 23 of this month's practice, take 8 minutes today to sit and listen to, or chant, the Ganesha Meditation... This meditation (Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha) brings our attention to our foundations, our roots, and invokes the Indian god Ganesha, a curious yet powerful character who removes all obstacles.

Please read through first, then ...

  • Today, sit (or stand) in stillness with this question…. What is the patrimony you carry in your body? Can you breath into it, hold it dear, and transform the anger and shame and discomfort it may stir, transform it into compassion and love for yourself as you are in this moment, new?
  • Setup: your "setup" for this month's daily practice is how you "hold onto yourself" and receive...
  • Begin by closing your eyes and aligning your body into its truest, most elegant posture, tucking your chin to lift your heart, tilting your pelvis to straighten your spine. Become still, more still than you've ever been. Your alignment is the physical training for trustworthiness. Bring your hands to your heart, right (masculine) over left (feminine).
  • Focus on feeling the vibration. That is all.
  • Set your timer for eight minutes or listen to the “Ganesha” mantra by Deva Primal here:
  • As the timer signals or the mantra ends allow your eyes to slowly open. Take three, relaxed breath cycles, no pressing, no effort, and feel yourself full, without thoughts, open. Safe to receive. Then, step into your day, letting the mantra echo as a nourishing vibration whenever you become still. You don't need to DO anything. Let the world come to you with its demands, its complaints, and yes, its endless tide of gifts and blessings.✨✨✨

Ps. If you’re in a relationship and you want to take it deeper, if you’re thinking about marriage, and want to take it deeper, please consider the three-month Sacred Marriage program at Our relationships are sacred. Let’s deepen that sh*t 😊
